A 27-year-old Colchester man pleaded guilty on Monday to to illegal possession of a machine gun, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Michael Sheridan entered the plea to the federal criminal charge via video conference during an appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert A. Richardson.
Federal prosecutors said Sheriden “agreed with an associate who had manufactured a machine gun to deliver it to another individual who had purchased it.” On Jan. 29, 2021, federal authorities said Sheriden transferred the machine gun to the purchaser in a parking lot in Cromwell.
Sheriden is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 10 and faces a maximum of 10 years in prison.
