Grand Theft Auto Fan Makes Impressive Remaster of San Andreas - GameRant

Ever since the launch of the GTA Trilogy at the end of 2021, fans have been scrambling to improve on Grove Street Games' lackluster remaster, and one person has done an impressive job of making Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas look fantastic. GTA: San Andreas was once infamous for "Hot Coffee" incident, but the fifth entry in Rockstar's behemoth open-world franchise holds a special place in the hearts of many fans, especially those who remember its initial release back in 2004.

However, those memories are not entirely fond, as San Andreas has one of the most frustrating missions in all of GTA; the "Wrong Side of the Tracks" job has no doubt caused many fans to lose patience with the game. That aside, it's still a classic entry in the series, and as such, someone decided that the much-derided official remaster needed a new lick of paint.

As spotted by DSO Gaming, YouTube channel 12th Hour went ahead and did their own remaster of GTA: San Andreas, and the results speak for themselves. Using 3D rendering software, host Ryan spent several days "fixing Rockstar's mistakes" with a highly detailed version of protagonist CJ. They then invested more time into remastering Grove Street, the small cul-de-sac that a lot of the earlier sections of the game take place in. It's a mightily impressive modern take on the classic game, with even the interior of CJ's house being given a splendid makeover. However, this new version is just a fan-made concept and will not be made available for others to play.

Although the memory has faded for most by now, many will recall just how disastrous the GTA: Trilogy - Definitive Edition release was, up there with Cyberpunk 2077. Its poorly rendered visuals and laundry list of game-breaking glitches turned what should have been an instant success into one of the most ridiculed launches of this generation. It also didn't help that Rockstar made the original trilogy — consisting of GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas — unavailable so that fans had to purchase the remasters if they wanted to play these iconic games.

Of course, what many are now looking forward to is the upcoming new installment. People keep seeing Grand Theft Auto 6 teases, with leaks and speculations aplenty. Few people outside of Rockstar have any idea when it's actually going to be released, though some are convinced they know when it's likely to see the light of day. Hopefully, the studio will be able to give additional information regarding the sixth game's release window soon.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
