LAPEER CO., Mich. (WJRT) (1/2/2021)-Two people had to be rushed to the hospital after a fire tore through their Lapeer County auto repair shop Saturday.
ABC12 spoke with the Hadley Township fire chief, who confirmed the fire had broken out southwest of Lapeer inside Lou’s Auto Service on the 3400 block of Hadley Road.
According to the chief, two owners were working on a car when it caught fire.
They attempted to remove the car from the building in an effort to minimize damage.
Regardless, the fire spread throughout the shop and when fire crews arrived, the building was fully involved from “end to end.”
Both owners suffered burns in the process, though the severity of their injuries wasn’t known at the time of publication.
They were taken to Hurley Medical Center for treatment.
The Hadley Township Fire Department said the building was considered a loss.
In total, seven cars were caught up in the fire and burned to varying degrees.
Stay with ABC12 for continuing coverage as new information becomes available.
