Overview
The Genesis lineup will be getting a new crown jewel when the 2024 GV90 electric SUV hits the streets. The GV90 will be the luxury automaker's largest and most lavish EV to date. Building on the flagship G90 sedan's design language, the GV90 will be a three-row SUV for families who want extra row of seating along with elegant design and posh digs. The GV90 is expected to share a lot of technology with the smaller Electrified GV70 SUV and the Electrified G80 sedan. Just like the Electrified GV70, we think the GV90 will house an electric motor at each axle providing standard all-wheel-drive and a power output nearing 500 horsepower. To keep the cabin as tranquil as possible, we expect the GV90 to roll on air springs and electronically controlled dampers. If the GV90 borrows the 87.2-kWh battery from the Electrified G80, that would give it a range of close to 250 miles, but the company may drop in a larger pack to get that number over 300. When we learn more about the specifics, we will update this story with details.
What's New for 2024?
The GV90 SUV will be an all-new model when it arrives for the 2024 model year. It will be Genesis' fourth and largest EV so far. We expect it to ride on the same platform as the Hyundai group's other recent EVs but we think the GV90 will add air springs and electronically controlled dampers for a smoother ride.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
We expect the GV90 lineup to follow the same formula as the smaller Electrified GV70 and GV60 crossovers, by skipping over the entry-level model and including only Advanced and Prestige trims. With a starting price of around $100,000, expect that both trims will come comprehensively equipped .
EV Motor, Power, and Performance
The 2024 GV90 will most likely be built on the same platform that underpins other recent Hyundai Motor Group EVs, such as the upcoming Hyundai Ioniq 7 and the Kia EV9 SUVs. We expect all-wheel drive will be standard on the GV90 and that it will borrow its powertrain from the smaller Electrified GV70, with an electric motor placed at each axle to create a combined horsepower rating nearing 500. When we find out more about the GV90's electric powertrain, we’ll update this story with details.
Range, Charging, and Battery Life
The GV90 could use the same 87.2-kWh battery pack as the Electrified G80 sedan. Genesis may offer a larger battery option with range cresting 300 miles, though we expect the standard battery to offer closer to 250 miles of range.
