PALMYRA — Emergency personnel were on the scene Thursday of a serious auto accident at the intersection of Ell Hill Road and Main Street.
Palmyra fire Chief Donald Chute said it appears a person died in the wreck but personnel were still responding to the scene. He did not have further details to provide.
The Somerset County sheriff’s dispatch log shows fire units from Hartland and Pittsfield, rescue services from Newport and a LifeFlight air ambulance were called to a motor vehicle accident on Ell Hill Road about 11:30 a.m.
Ell Hill Road is Route 152 and Main Street is Route 2. The intersection is in the western part of Palmyra not far from Douglas Pond.
The roads were closed in the area, including from the intersection where the wreck occurred south on Ell Hill Road into Pittsfield, authorities said.
