PROVIDENCE, RI (WJAR) — After last year's absence, the Northeast International Auto Show has returned to the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence. The show began Friday and continues Sunday, 10 AM to 5 PM.
According to spokesperson DeeDee Taft, last year's show had to be called off because of supply-chain issues that resulted in a shortage of new vehicles, a condition that's improved this year.
Taft said twelve vehicle manufacturers are represented, allowing attendees to compare models from different makers. Vehicles on display include family vehicles, including sedans, SUVs and minivans, as well as sports cars. Several are battery-powered pure-electric vehicles, but there are also many conventional, gasoline-powered cars and trucks, as well as hybrids that run on a combination of battery power and gasoline.
In addition to new vehicles, members of "401 Jeep Wave" - which organizes off-roading events in the Rhode Island area - have several of their modified and vintage Jeeps on display.
