Spin and win: Burton bests Gragson on final lap to win at Texas
It was a spin-and-win day for Harrison Burton at Texas Motor Speedway, earning his third victory of the 2020 NASCAR Xfinity Series season.
Burton ran down race leader Noah Gragson over the final three laps in the O‘Reilly Auto Parts 300 at the 1.5-mile Fort Worth track, finally passing the No. 9 JR Motorsports driver coming out of Turn 4 coming to the checkered flag.
RELATED: Unofficial results
Burton recovered from a spin on Lap 107 of the 200-lap event for the race win, taking the win away from Gragson who finds himself in a points bind with one race to go in the Round of 8 to make the Championship 4. Gragson is now unofficially 24 points behind the cutline following his second-place result.
Anthony Alfredo, Austin Cindric and Brandon Brown completed the top-five finishing order.
A significant shakeup on the cutline occurred when playoff drivers Ross Chastain, Justin Allgaier and Brandon Jones crashed on the backstretch following a restart with 25 laps remaining. Allgaier got loose at the exit of Turn 2 trying to take the lead away from Chastain. That bunched cars up, with Chastain making contact with Allgaier and collecting Jones.
Allgaier and Jones were forced to retire from the race. Jones finished 25th, while Allgaier finished right behind in 26th. Chastain finished 16th.

Early-race problems plagued Chase Briscoe, who advanced into the Championship 4 with his victory at Kansas Speedway. Briscoe came to pit road under green-flag conditions for a flat right-rear tire, but the issues proved to be more severe. Briscoe took the No. 98 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford to the garage for repairs after the team discovered a broken shock, returning to the track several laps down.
Ryan Sieg, who came into Texas 17 points below the cutline, also suffered mechanical issues. Sieg took the No. 39 Chevrolet behind the wall on Lap 55, returning to the track multiple laps down. He finished 31st.
Next up for the Xfinity Series is the Round of 8 finale at Martinsville Speedway next Saturday, Oct. 31, at 3:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
