A pair of armed perps carjacked a BMW driver and his two female passengers at gunpoint early Saturday in Inwood, police said.
The 27-year-old driver was behind the wheel of a blue BMW sedan on 10th Avenue in Inwood when a gunman approached the driver’s side door and pulled him out of the vehicle. His accomplice ordered the driver’s female passengers, ages 23 and 26, to exit the car, before the two hopped in and sped off. The suspects were described as two Hispanic men, cops said.
The incident follows a 64% increase in auto thefts this year across the city compared to last year, according to NYPD stats through Nov. 1.
On Friday, police released photos of suspects in another carjacking that happened on Oct. 11 at the intersection of Fulton and Franklin streets in Brooklyn. In that incident, two unidentified men slashed the driver of a Toyota Rav4 in the face with a knife, before stealing his car, police said. The vehicle was recovered the next day on 147th Avenue.
The alleged perps, both wearing hooded sweatshirts, are seen walking down the street in surveillance footage taken just before the 4 p.m. incident. One of the men appears to be holding something in his pocket.
