The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal investigated a fire that damaged Delmar’s commercial property on Tuesday.
The fire, reported shortly before 1 P.M., occurred to the structure in the 8000 block of Waller Road at Delmar Auto Center. The Delmar Fire Department arrived on the scene and found smoke and flames coming from two property structures. Mutual aid fire companies assisted at the scene.
State fire investigators were called to the scene. The investigation revealed that the fire was accidental and was caused by an open burning that spread into the adjacent structures.
Fire damage is estimated at $250,000. The structures were occupied at the time of the fire. One person was treated for smoke inhalation
