BIG RAPIDS — Big Rapids Department of Public Safety officers responded to the following calls.
All calls may not be reported.
Friday, Sept. 17 through Sunday, Sept. 19
• Property was found in the 600 block of Adams Street. Maintenance found a small amount of marijuana while cleaning out an apartment. It was placed into property for destruction.
• A property damage accident was reported on Water Tower Road.
• A well-being check was performed in the 800 block of Country Way. The woman advised she was fine and did not wish to speak with anyone.
• A well-being check was performed in the 200 block of Warren Street. A man was found to be fine with no issues.
• A property damage accident was reported on State Street near Linden Street.
• A civil complaint was reported in the 200 block of Pemberton Street. A complainant advised that a man had assaulted the woman the night prior at that residence. The incident was recorded on surveillance system, which showed no assault had taken place.
• Suspicious activity was reported at Hemlock Park. A caller reported a man had gotten into a fight with two other unknown individuals the day prior.
• A domestic assault was reported in the 700 block of Clark Street. A woman called dispatch stating her boyfriend had punched her in the face and pushed her down her stairs at her residence. It was found that she had not been pushed down the stairs and she had smashed the man’s phone while he was videotaping her during their argument. The man stated the woman was suicidal. The woman said she wasn't. The woman said the same thing about the man. Police forwarded arrest warrants on both parties.
• A well-being check was performed in the 800 block of Country Way. The man was located and fine.
• A disorderly complaint was made in the 800 block of South State Street. After a man was told he couldn't add a cell phone on a plan his name wasn't on, he became disorderly. As he was outside, he mentioned he knew about the recent cell phone store bomb threats. The man left in a black SUV. Store requested that no contact be made with the man. They also didn't want him trespassed or charged.
• A property damage crash was reported on State Street near Locust Street.
• A noise complaint was made in the 100 block of Gilbertson Street. A man was issued a warning after being advised his party was too loud with music and his bull riding machine. Vehicles were also illegally parked on the grass and sidewalk.
• While conducting a liquor inspection in the 800 block of Maple Street, a man provided a fake Illinois ID to officers even after being advised they knew it was fake. The man was cited for minor in possession-first offense and fake ID.
• A private property damage accident was reported in the 1000 block of South State Street. A caller reported a man hit the vehicle in front of him twice in the drive through. The man was found to be operating under the influence and refused a PBT. During a chemical test, the man provided the first breath sample, but then refused to provide any further samples. A search warrant and blood draw were completed. The vehicle was impounded.
• A passerby found a 1-year-old child walking near North State Street and Spruce Street. Officers canvassed the area and after knocking on doors, they located the child’s father, who had no idea the child had left the house. CPS was contacted and the report will be forwarded for review.
• A mutual domestic incident was reported in the 200 block of Monroe Street. A father went to visit his daughter. The father sat on the daughter's couch and she knew he carries bed bugs. She told him to get up and leave and an argument ensued. The daughter began to push her father out of the door which resulted in his glasses getting knocked off his face. The father backhanded his daughter. The daughter then threw his phone and medication at him, and it appeared the action broke the father’s phone. The father then kicked a car in the driveway while wearing flip flops which didn't cause any damage.
