Authorities are looking for the driver of a fatal hit-and-run crash early Sunday in Arlington, police say.
Shortly after 2 a.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of West Pioneer Parkway and Center Street, where someone was reportedly struck by a car, police said.
Responding officers found a 30-year-old man in the roadway who was “unresponsive,” according to police. The man, whose name was not released Sunday evening, was pronounced dead.
People who saw the crash told investigators the man was using the crosswalk at the intersection when a black Honda Civic going east on Pioneer Parkway struck him, police said in a Sunday news release.
The driver of the Civic did not stop and drove away, police added. Officers found the vehicle a short distance away from the crash.
Witnesses told authorities that the motorist left and ran toward a nearby apartment complex, police said.
“The vehicle had damage consistent with the collision. Officers could also see multiple alcohol containers inside,” the release stated.
No arrests had been made as of about 5:50 p.m. Sunday, according to police. Authorities are working to identify the driver, police added.
