China's auto sales could grow around 4% to 26.3 million units in 2021, with the new-energy vehicle segment expected to considerably outpace the mass market, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers said.
Sales of new-energy vehicles could jump around 40% to 1.8 million units next year, the government-backed industry body said Friday.
For this year, auto sales are expected to fall 2% to 25.3 million units, it said.
Auto sales, including passenger and commercial vehicles, fell 2.9% on year to 22.47 million units for the first 11 months of the year.
However, car sales in China have started to recover since early summer, as the coronavirus pandemic has been largely bought under control in the country since then. Sales for November grew 12.6% from a year earlier.
