The 2021 Syracuse Auto Expo will be moving from its traditional spot in February to autumn next year.
The 113th Syracuse Auto Expo is now scheduled to take place at the Oncenter from Sept. 23-26, 2021. The show will be kicked off by the 23rd Annual Charity Preview on Sept. 22.
“Moving the show not only affects the local dealerships and national brands that are a part of this exciting event,” said Syracuse Auto Dealers Association President Rich Burritt. “More importantly, this postponement affects the 14 charities who will be missing the funding they would receive from the February Auto Expo Charity Preview.”
“We hope that Auto Expo attendees will be generous to each of the Charity Preview organizations during the holiday season and beyond. Our goal for the September event is to raise $350,000 for the necessary services that support Central New Yorkers.”
“We’re enthusiastic about an Auto Expo in September that will hopefully mark the return of events and the ability to enjoy hundreds of vehicles spread out through the Oncenter complex,” said Charity Preview Co-Chair Brian Rapp. “We’re looking forward to welcoming vehicle manufacturers, local dealerships with their staffs and friends and families that are excited to see the latest designs and technology in cars, trucks and crossover vehicles.”
The Syracuse Auto Expo is one of the five oldest shows in the United States, starting in 1907. That year, the Franklin automobile was unveiled.
In 1945, the show took a hiatus because of World War II.
The show has been moved once before to the fall.
The 2018 expo was moved up to the fall of 2017 to accommodate the American Bowling Congress Championship.
