The popular Twin Ports Twin 25s are 7 p.m. Friday at Gondik Law Speedway in Superior.
The total purse for the event is more than $33,000 and features two 25-lap Late Model features paying $2,000 apiece. If a driver wins both Late Model features, he would earn a $1,000 bonus, meaning one driver could take home as much as $5,000 Friday. In addition, the track is paying $350 just to make each feature, so $700 total just to start.
James Giossi of Hudson, Wisconsin, and Jimmy Mars of Menomonie, Wisconsin, are the defending Twin Ports Twin 25s champions.
Friday’s racing is also part of the Wissota Late Model Challenge Series, with Darrell Nelson of Hermantown leading in points and Jeff Massingill of Keewatin second.
The FastLane Motorsports Northland Super Stock Series and Hornets are also part of Friday’s racing lineup. Last year’s Twin Ports Twin 25s included 41 Late Models, and the Super Stock series averaged 45 cars last week, so track promoter Joe Stariha is expecting a lot of cars Friday.
“It should be great,” Stariha said.
General admission tickets are $25 for people age 13 and over and children 12 and under are admitted free. There will also be a concert on the frontstretch after the races by Whiskey River.
Halvor Lines Speedway in Proctor will host not one, but two nights of Monster Trucks at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Kids' tickets start at just $10 and advance tickets are available at a discount through monstertruckboxoffice.com.
Weekly racing will resume at 5 p.m. Sunday with the Proctor Fair Races, which includes a stop by the FastLane Motorsports Northland Super Stock Series. Then next week it will be the Midsummer Night of Mayhem bus races Saturday, Aug. 7.
