TAYLORSVILLE — One person is dead after being struck by a vehicle near 4900 S. 4015 West early Sunday.

About 2:20 a.m., police responded to reports of an auto-pedestrian crash in Taylorsville. Life-saving efforts were attempted but when first responders arrived the person was declared dead, according to Taylorsville police Sgt. Evan Keller. The traffic investigative team responded to the incident, as well as the medical examiner.

It has not yet been determined if the person was in a crosswalk when they were struck, said Keller. The driver remained on the scene and cooperated with police. The vehicle involved in the incident was held for investigation, added Keller.

The identity of the person who was killed was not released.
