Huge 2023 Phoenix car show is canceled. Here's why - The Arizona Republic

The International Auto Show at the Phoenix Convention Center has been a Thanksgiving weekend tradition for more than 45 years, with the Valley Auto Dealers Association showing off exotic luxury cars, tricked-out custom builds, classic cars and more.

It appears that tradition won't go on this year.

According to autoshowphoenix.com, the auto dealers association has canceled the International Auto Show "due to perceived concerns related to the unsettled UAW contract negotiations."

“We hope that we will be able to return next year,” DeeDee Taft with Spin PR, the organizer of the event, told The Arizona Republic.

The United Auto Workers union went on strike earlier this year. Some issues have been settled; talking points still on the table include a built-in cost-of-living adjustment and a 30 percent pay increase for GM workers until the end of the contract in April 2028.

The International Auto Show was set to take place at the Phoenix Convention Center Nov. 23-26.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
