Organizers of the Lehigh Valley Auto Show on Wednesday announced dates for the 2021 edition, and made good on a promise to support Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network.

After this year’s event was canceled due to the coronavirus, the Greater Lehigh Valley Auto Dealers Association says it is looking to get “Back on the road again” -- the theme for next year’s show.

The 2021 show is scheduled March 18-21, once again on Lehigh University’s Goodman Campus in Bethlehem, and marks the event’s 24th anniversary.

The show will comply with all state and local COVID-19 guidelines in place, organizers said, and show times and entrance policies may be different depending upon providing a coronavirus-safe environment for attendees.

Association executives on Wednesday previewed the 2021 show with a press event at Good Shepherd Health and Technology Center in Allentown, where they presented the network with a $25,000 check. Good Shepherd Pediatrics was the designated beneficiary of the 2020 auto show gala that was also canceled due to limits on crowds in place at the time.

“Despite the significant loss of revenue from the 2020 auto show, the franchised new car dealers of the Greater Lehigh Valley Auto Dealers Association have expressed their desire for continued support of Good Shepherd’s service to the residents of our community,” Sam Borrelli, auto dealers association president and president of Faulkner Chevrolet Cadillac in Bethlehem, said in a statement. “The auto show’s financial loss has forced us to suspend our Charitable Grants Program for the 2020 to 2021 year. However, through our previous investments in the Pennsylvania Automotive Association Foundation, we are able to honor our commitment to Good Shepherd.”

Michael Spigel, president and CEO of Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network, said the support helps its pediatrics division “provide life-changing rehabilitative care and support for children and families.”

“Whether a family is encountering the most difficult time of their lives medically or simply seeking out new ways for their child to reach their individual goals, Good Shepherd Pediatrics is there — cheering them on, providing compassionate care and transforming lives through leading-edge rehabilitation,” Spigel stated.

Greater Lehigh Valley Auto Dealers Association Executive Director Tom Kwiatek encouraged local residents to buy vehicles from area dealerships “where we employ people from the community, contribute to the local economic growth and keep business taxes flowing into the local municipalities.”

“The communities in and around the Lehigh Valley are great places to live and work,” Kwiatek said in a statement. “Our association was formed for the purpose of investing in those communities and our new brand identity reflects that.”
