A Goleta man is facing felony DUI and other charges after a Wednesday night vehicle crash at a Goleta auto dealership lot.
David Mata, 39, was arrested following the collision, which occurred about 8:45 p.m. at the Nissan lot at 425 S. Kellogg Ave., according to Brad McVay, a spokesman for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department.
Mata allegedly was driving a black BMW sedan that was northbound on Kellogg Avenue at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway, clipped a fire hydrant and struck at least three vehicles on the dealership lot, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
It also damaged signage at the business.
Mata suffered moderate injuries and was taken by AMR ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, fire officials said. Details on his condition were not available.
A 14-year-old boy who was a passenger in the vehicle sustained minor injuries, McVay told Noozhawk. The boy was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
According to the criminal complaint filed against him, Mata is charged with felony counts of driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury; driving with a blood-alcohol great than .08 causing injury; and child abuse under conditions likely to cause great bodily injury or death; and a misdemeanor count of driving on a suspended license related to a previous DUI conviction.
He also is facing criminal enhancements for allegedly refusing to take a blood-alcohol test, and driving with a blood-alcohol content of greater than 0.15 percent, and a special allegation that would preclude him serving any prison sentence in county jail if convicted.
The complaint further alleges that Mata has at least two prior DUI convictions — in 2013 and 2018.
Mata is scheduled to be arraigned in Superior Court in Santa Barbara on Oct. 27.
