For Perdido Auto Spa owner Wes Verret and his business partner, buying the land for Perdido Auto Spa was one thing. Figuring out how to utilize it was another.
"The initial plan was to buy the property and cut the grass," Verret said. "Just keep the grass cut and maintained."
But after a while, they started brainstorming ideas. What could they build on the lot at 13159 Sorrento Road? What would best serve Perdido Key and the surrounding areas? Verret and his business partner began a two-year investigative process to find the answer to these questions.

They thought about building a marina. They thought about building an assisted living facility. They even thought about a Popeyes Chicken restaurant.
But they finally decided on opening Perdido Auto Spa.
"Car wash is such a mundane word," Verret said. "But the beauty within is all about helping people. It's the heart of who we are."
Even though Perdido Auto Spa opened right before the COVID-19 outbreak, that hasn't slowed Verret and his team one bit.
"When COVID hit, it allowed us to rethink our processes in the midst of pandemonium," Verret said. "We've had a tremendous response from the community so far."
In order to better serve the community, Perdido Auto Spa is now offering a $10 express interior add on service for its customers. Once you choose this service and go through the wash, a team member will then help you in vacuuming, cleaning windows and door jams, wiping down consoles and more.
"Our goal is to make sure you leave better than you arrived," Verret said. "It's really why we're here. This car wash is our church."
Perdido Auto Spa has recently partnered with several businesses, including Big Fish Ministries in Foley, Alabama. Customers have a chance to add a $1 donation that goes towards the ministry.
"We'd like to help their ministry to fulfill what Jesus Christ is all about, helping one another," Verret said.
Perdido Auto Spa is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. For more information, visit www.perdidoautospa.com or call 850-285-0872.
