PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WYMT) - Update 8/16/2020:
Since Thursday, police officials have been searched for Patrick Adkins, the man who police say stole a black Mustang at gunpoint, with a toy gun.
“It’s a gun, it looks just absolutely like one and he brandished that and jumped through the window and basically stole the black Mustang,” said Pikeville Police Dept. Public Information Officer, Tony Conn.
Prestonsburg and Pikeville police received tips of a white Kia car that was used in the auto theft on Thursday. The white Kia was originally painted dark blue.
“The suspects had taken a paint roller and painted it white and took the Ford emblem off the Mustang and stuck it on the Kia, I have no idea why they would do that but they did,” added Conn.
On Saturday, Pikeville police arrested Patrick Adkins and other suspects when reports of the stolen white Kia was in the Cassidy Boulevard area.
“Once we seen the car, all characteristics that we’ve been told, the spray-painted ‘A’ on the back and Indiana plate on the vehicle,” said Conn.
Officials say Adkins now faces multiple charges.
“He had five warrants, five outstanding arrest warrants, one of them being from our agency, so he’s facing numerous felony charges out of Circuit Court,” added Conn.
Police also arrested Teddy Anderson and Kristy Smith.
“She [Smith] was in his vehicle, we do know that Teddy Anderson is connected to Patrick Adkins, it may be noted that the black Mustang was located on Mr. Anderson’s property,” said Conn.
