TULSA, OK (KTUL) — On Sunday, around 8:10 pm, Tulsa police responded to 51st and N. Peoria for a report of an auto theft in progress.
According to the Tulsa Police Department (TPD), an officer on patrol nearby spotted the stolen silver Hyundai Sonata at Chamberlain Park. The car was found a few blocks from where the auto theft happened.
TPD said the icy roads were no match for the suspects as the car lost control and hit a curb near the park.
After crashing, the two suspects jumped out of the car and ran in different directions.
Officers took a 16-year-old male into custody after setting up a perimeter. Officials said the second suspect was not found, but an investigation is underway to determine their identity.
If you have information on this incident, you are asked to call Tulsa Crime Stoppers at 918-596-2677.
Callers can remain anonymous.
As we start unthawing from these treacherous conditions, please continue to drive cautiously and look out for other motorists. If you are thinking about stealing a car...don't, and figure out why you are thinking about stealing a car in the first place. - Tulsa Police Department
